Verification
Verification at RentThread
This page describes planned functionality. Residency verification is not yet live in the current early-access build; this explanation is published ahead of the feature so renters can evaluate how RentThread will treat their information.
What a Verified Stay means
A Verified Stay means RentThread confirmed a qualifying connection to a property using its then-current process. It does not mean RentThread verified every statement a contributor makes, endorses the contributor, or certifies the property's quality, safety, legality, health, or condition.
How verification will work
- Residency is verified privately. Verification details are never shown publicly and are never shared with the property or its representatives.
- Only verified Resident Reports affect the RentThread Score.
- Exact unit numbers and exact dates stay private. Public labels use broad context only (for example, "Verified Former Resident").
- At initial public launch, RentThread will not accept leases, government IDs, utility bills, or similar sensitive documents. Sensitive-document verification remains disabled until its privacy, security, retention, and counsel review gates are complete.
- When document-based verification launches, published retention windows (including rapid deletion of raw evidence) will appear here and in the Privacy Policy before the first upload is accepted.
Corrections and appeals
Verification decisions can be corrected or revoked, and rejected verification attempts will have a resubmission and appeal path. Questions: support@rentthread.com.
