Legal Request Guidelines
RentThread Legal Request Guidelines
These Guidelines describe how {{LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME}} receives requests for RentThread account or user information. They are informational, do not waive legal rights or objections, do not consent to jurisdiction, and do not create a duty to retain or disclose information beyond applicable law.
1. Informal requests
RentThread does not disclose private account information, Property Alias ownership, exact residency information, votes, reports, or verification information merely because a property, manager, representative, attorney, or other person asks, disputes a contribution, or threatens legal action.
Use the Property Correction, Community Guidelines report, Official Response, copyright, or other designated process for non-legal matters.
2. Service of legal process
Legal process must identify {{LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME}} and be served as required by applicable law at:
{{LEGAL_PROCESS_ADDRESS}}
Courtesy copies may be sent to legal@rentthread.com, but email does not constitute consent to service unless RentThread expressly agrees in writing for that matter.
Requests should identify the issuing authority, case/matter, legal basis, exact account/content identifiers or URLs, date range, specific records sought, and response deadline. Overbroad identifiers such as an entire property or all critics are not sufficiently precise by themselves.
3. Review and scope
RentThread reviews legal requests for validity, jurisdiction, scope, and legal authority. We may seek clarification, object, move to quash or modify, seek a protective order, request reimbursement where permitted, or take another lawful action. We disclose only information responsive to binding process and actually in our possession or control.
These Guidelines do not promise that RentThread will challenge or fund a challenge to every request.
4. User notice
RentThread’s general practice is to notify an affected user before disclosure when legally permitted and appropriate. We may withhold or delay notice when prohibited by law or court order or when an emergency, safety concern, compromised account, or risk to an investigation makes notice inappropriate.
5. Preservation
Preservation requests must identify the account or content and relevant date range with specificity and cite applicable authority. Preservation does not mean RentThread has agreed that process is valid or that information will be disclosed.
RentThread retains information under its ordinary schedules unless a valid preservation duty or legal hold applies. Do not send a preservation request to customer support or a Property Representative.
6. Emergency requests
If there is an emergency involving danger of death or serious physical injury, authorized law-enforcement personnel should contact legal@rentthread.com with official agency contact information, the nature of the emergency, the specific information requested, how it could address the danger, and certification of the facts and authority.
Members of the public should call 911 or the appropriate local emergency service. RentThread’s legal and report channels are not continuously monitored as emergency channels.
7. Costs and format
RentThread may seek reimbursement of legally permitted costs. Unless another format is required and reasonably available, responsive electronic records may be produced in a secure, reasonably usable electronic format.
8. Changes
We may update these Guidelines. The version in effect when a request is received does not waive rights available under law.
