RentThread Score Methodology

This page describes planned functionality. The RentThread Score is not yet live in the current early-access build; the methodology is published ahead of the feature so the rules are public before the first score is.

Principles

• The RentThread Score is a deterministic aggregate of eligible verified Resident Reports. It is informational — not an inspection, appraisal, certification, guarantee, or prediction of another renter's experience.
• Only verified stays count. A report affects the score only when it comes from a verified, qualifying stay.
• One contribution per stay. One account cannot create duplicate rating influence for the same stay; editing a report replaces its contribution rather than adding another.
• Money cannot alter the record. Payments, advertising, and Property Representative status never affect scores, ranking, removal, labels, or moderation. Helpful votes and contributor reputation never increase rating weight.
• Sample size is shown. Until a property has a defensible minimum number of independent verified reports, RentThread shows individual reports and a "not enough information yet" state instead of a prominent aggregate.
• History is preserved. Scores show all-time and recent/management-era context. A property rename or management change never erases eligible history.
• Versioned and reproducible. Every score is computed by a versioned algorithm from recorded inputs, so a published score can be reproduced and audited.
